Jon Spector, commercial leader and vice president for Overwatch, said that the goal for challenges and XP progression is “to give players a bunch of options for how they play the game.” Why Blizzard believes Overwatch 2’s battle pass won’t break the game It appears that players can earn at least 60 Overwatch Coins per week, which would total more than half the cost of a battle pass over the course of a nine-week season.īeyond that, Blizzard is also planning seasonal, competitive, and lifetime challenges for Overwatch 2, but what those will pay out is not yet clear. Completing four weekly challenges will net players 30 coins another four will pay out 20 additional coins and completing a total of 11 will pay out 10 more coins. Weekly challenges will pay out 5,000 XP per challenge, plus a number of coins. Weekly challenges are intended to be harder to complete, and include feats such as winning 10 games, dealing (or boosting) 125,000 damage, or mitigating 40,000 damage. These are all straightforward objectives one could complete passively simply by playing a few rounds of Overwatch 2. (Completing the remaining three will not go toward progressing your battle pass, which appears to require 10,000 XP per tier.)ĭaily challenges include basic feats like winning a game, completing three games in any unranked mode, mitigating 2,000 damage without dying, or finishing three games after queueing up for role flex matchmaking. Overwatch 2 will offer daily and weekly challenges that players can complete to earn XP toward the battle pass and earn Overwatch Coins that can be spent in an in-game shop. The longer answer is a bit more complicated.
